We work mostly in Further Education and Sixth Form Colleges; and run bespoke sessions for local authorities and other organisations working with young people.

Why 16-19 year olds need this programme?
Winston Churchill said “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference” – our attitudes are central to who we are, the decisions we make, the level of risk we are willing to take and the state of our relationships.
Employers give young people work experience opportunities with the expectation they would come prepared to learn, interact with others and take advantage of situations presented etc; but it is often not the case even when the young person made a good impression during the interview. Lack of preparation affects their confidence and behaviour even when he/she has the ability to do a job.

“Young people need training to help them operate in the workplace, not qualifications that prepare them to fail” – Demos (Independent Think Tank) (Source: Times Education Supplement article – Former apprentices prosper thanks to ‘gumption’).

With Shaping Attitudes for the workplace, we aim to bring sub consciousDivine Communications Trust - Shaping Attitudes for the workplace - Leaving the office issues to consciousness and improve participants’ chances of having a positive experience; and increase confidence so they can take advantage of opportunities presented during their work placement/apprenticeship.

We recently carried out a survey on the professional networking site LinkedIn, and over 60 professionals responded to: ‘What advice would you give a young person starting a placement or apprenticeship?’ You can read our blog ‘Tips for young people to survive the workplace (Read it here).
