  • Top Tips for 16-19 year olds in the workplace

    Do’s
    Arrive on time – at least 5-10 minutes before you are to start

    Dress professionally – not too dressed or too casual

    Be clean and have a fresh breath (keep mints with you!)

    Make eye contact, smile and be friendly

    Ask questions as you go along – this is not a sign of weakness!

    Non-verbal behaviour speaks volumes!

    Listen and observe – don’t act like you know it all! Give yourself the opportunity to learn

    Show you are a team player – help out where necessary

    Maintain a professional and positive attitude

    Stay away from office gossip

    Avoid talking about sensitive subjects like religion, politics and race

    Keep your phone on silent not vibrate!

    Don’t use the internet to check your personal emails
