The Bina programme comes as a comprehensive toolkit; and each theme has the following:

• Lesson plan
• PowerPoint presentation
• Exercise worksheet
• Pupils’ note

Lesson plan
The lesson plan is a key part of the toolkit and a must-read for anyone who will be delivering a lesson. Within the lesson plan are: learning objectives, the full story, questions and very detailed notes and suggestions on how to facilitate manage the questions. The lesson notes give the teacher the confidence to deliver without any fears.

PowerPoint presentation
The PowerPoint presentation is compatible with all school whiteboards and contains ten graphic illustrations to tell the story. It also has the set questions, some suggested answers and key messages at the end of each theme. Teachers can adapt content to include other issues that’s specific to each class/group.

Exercise worksheet
Each pupil has one to use individually during every lesson to answer the simple questions set specifically to challenge and help develop their critical thinking skills, as well as improve their literacy skills – so this is a key part of the process of learning.

Pupils’ notes
The pupils’ notes are a snapshot of the illustrated story and the key message from the lesson. This has been designed for the pupils to take away to read in their own time.

The supporting materials clearly address pupil needs as well as – crucially – the insecurities which teachers trained in other aspects of the curriculum often
experience when faced with PSHE and/or Citizenship preparation and delivery.

The powerpoints and supporting text commentary deal with issues to which pupils can relate, and use language which is accessible yet appropriately demanding. The accompanying worksheets should ensure that pupils not only learn from the presentations, and any discussions or other classroom activities.
